Think7 Summit: Canada 2025
The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) is proud to be hosting the Think7 (T7) Summit: Canada 2025, taking place from April 1 to 2, 2025, at the CIGI Campus in Waterloo, Ontario. This hybrid event will bring together a diverse group of global experts, policy makers and thought leaders for strategic discussions that will culminate in policy recommendations for the G7. Attendees will include leaders of international think tanks and research institutes, scholars, contributing experts from T7 task forces, members of other G7 engagement groups, Think20 (T20) representatives, civil society voices, practitioners, diplomats and government delegates.
The T7 is one of seven official engagement groups that are independent, non-government bodies that provide annual advisory insights to the G7. This year, the T7 solicited hundreds of policy ideas from around the world that will lead to about 20 final Policy Briefs built around four thematic areas to shape the recommendations for the G7. These themes constitute the task force domains and provide context and a framework for addressing key challenges:
- Transformative Technologies — AI and Quantum
- Digitalization of the Global Economy
- Environment, Energy and Sustainable Development
- Global Peace and Security
The Summit marks the height of T7 activities, helps to bridge T7 and T20 agendas, and offers participants a forum to collaborate, deliberate and build momentum for policy recommendations. Program highlights include:
- Presentation of the T7 Task Force Recommendations and Final T7 Communiqué
- Global Think Tank Panel: Views on the World in 2025
- Round Table with Leading Experts: Innovation for a Fair Data Economy
- Interactive Discussion on Artificial Intelligence: Global Solutions to Global AI Challenges
- Conversation on Sustainable Energy in a Digital World
